Study on Air Bubble Plume in Open Channel with CFD-PBM Coupling Model

Abstract Air bubble plume flow has been applied widely in the dredging, ice breaking, and pollution control at navigation projects. But interaction regimes among bubbles or between water are not quite clear. Especially open channels, significantly affected by separation phenomenon which is caused cross velocity. According to existing research, force of gas-liquid distribution size key parameters simulate hydrodynamic characteristics flow. In order explore mechanism air entrained plumes an Eulerian-Eulerian approach for air-water flows numerical model was introduced, population balance (PBM) included describe size. The velocity channels discussed proposed model. It shows that strongly influenced influence these on movement studied. results indicate great impact as well lifting effectiveness pneumatic sluicing. This research provides references engineering applications.
